About Tim
On May 2nd 2019, Tim was honoured and delighted to be elected as:
- Folkestone and Hythe District Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Sandgate & West Folkestone;
- Sandgate Parish Councillor (Independent) for Sandgate Village;
- Folkestone Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Folkestone Harvey West;
- Hythe Town Councillor (Liberal Democrats) for Hythe East.
Previously, Tim has served on Folkestone Town Councillor for Cheriton from 2006-2011, and Shepway District Councillor for Cheriton from 2007-2011, Kent County Councillor for Folkestone West from 2009-2013, and Sandgate Parish Councillor for Sandgate Village from 2011-2019.
He is currently the leader of the (small, but perfectly formed) Liberal Democrats group on Folkestone and Hythe District Council, and sits on the Overview and Scrutiny and Audit and Governance Committees. Tim was proud in June 2019 to move a motion calling on F&HDC to abandon plans to develop Princes Parade in Seabrook and instead build a new sports centre and swimming pool in Martello Lakes in West Hythe. Despite winning the vote 15-14, the District Council Cabinet are still resisting the direction of Council.
Away from Council meetings, Tim was a School Governor (including Chair of Governors) at St Martins Primary School in Cheriton for nine years to 2016, is the Treasurer of the Chichester Memorial Hall Charity in Sandgate, convenient seat and bringer of kibbles for Minnie, Managing Director of Prater Raines Ltd and sometimes a bit tired...
