Kent Police update May 2013 - Sandgate, Cheriton and Morehall

On Saturday 11th May 2013 PCSO Mark Ball hosted a Residents Meeting at All Souls Church Hall. Residents as well as local Councillors attended in order to discuss the issue of Anti-social behaviour surrounding Cheriton Park. Several key action points were established.

On Monday 13th May PCSO Mark Ball attended a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) on the A20 involving two vehicles. Appropriate road closure signage was implemented and traffic management put in place. No persons were injured.

PCSO Mark Ball attended Horn Street in relation to a report of Theft of a pedal cycle. Associates of the suspect provided details of the individual who was located and arrested. The bike was returned to the rightful owner.

Whilst conducting a routine patrol of Tesco Store in Cheriton PCSO's Mark Ball and Laura Zazo assisted store security with a verbally aggressive female shoplifter. After all items were retrieved the female was banned from the store.

On Sunday 26th May local officers Laura Zazo and Mark Ball attended Enbrook Road in relation to a report of dogs being left in a vehicle for several hours. The owner was quickly found who was instructed to get the dogs out of the car so they could be suitably checked. Local residents who had been monitoring the situation expressed their concern as it was a particular hot day. Words of warning were provided to the dog owner.

A group of young persons were found loitering on Saga private grounds by PCSO's Laura Zazo and Mark Ball in a particular area known for criminal damage and Anti-social behaviour. Officers conducted high visibility patrol on the Saga grounds after reports from a local newsagent regarding the groups conduct. The group were given suitable words of advice and moved on from the area.

PCSO's Mark Ball and Laura Zazo attended St Andrews Church in Cheriton Road for a monthly surgery. Residents had the opportunity to speak in confidence with their local officers in relation to any concerns they may have.

PCSO's Mark Ball and John Knight attended a monthly meeting between Folkestone businesses where crime stats, repeat offenders, etc, were discussed. As a result several arrests were made in the subsequent days.

Current statistics for Anti-social behaviour are: When compared with last year's crime figures Sandgate is down by 30.4%, Cheriton is down by 25.2% and Morehall is also down by 22.4%. As with the report for January, crime statistics are very encouraging for both the areas of Sandgate and Cheriton.

Reports of Theft of Pedal Cycles in Sandgate and Cheriton are being monitored by PCSO's Laura Zazo, Karen Tappenden, and Mark Ball. As a result targeted patrols are still being conducted in Battery Point and Spring Lane.
